The session began with a 5-day orientation session in Jerusalem. The first weekend was spent on a tour of the Negev desert. Programming included hiking, visiting an ecologic farm, touring a Beduoin settlement and meeting with Bedouins in their homes, and meeting Israel students who created a student village in the desert.
During the second week of the program, Career Israel transferred to the Harel Kibbutz (near Bet Shemesh) for an intensive Hebrew-study program. In Ulpan participants studied Hebrew for 5 hours each morning. Afternoons were spent touring near-by areas, volunteering, participating in lectures and seminars, and enjoying the beautiful wildflowers and nature in Israel in the spring. The second week of the program was free giving the participants a chance to visit with family and friends in Israel. The third weekend was a group weekend in Tel Aviv during which the group toured Israel's cultural capitol with a focus on art and culture in the city.
After Ulpan the group will move into the program apartments in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The majority of the group will be living in Tel Aviv, with a smaller group in Jerusalem.
