and more...
A professional internship in Israel is an impressive and prestigious addition
to your resume and will enhance your future career development.
An internship can help you "get your foot in the door" in your profession,
and/or help you get into the graduate school of your choice.
Career Israel works with leading companies and organizations in Israel, and we
do our best to accommodate the requests and interests of each applicant.
However, it is important to have realistic expectations regarding your
internship placement.
As an intern from overseas, the following limitations may affect the type of work you will be given:
-
You are only here for a short time, and therefore the organizations can not
give you major roles in long-term projects.
-
Professional life is conducted in Hebrew, and if you are not a native Hebrew
speaker there are many tasks that you can not do.
-
If you are a recent college/university graduate, you may not have previous
experience in the relevant field.
-
Since you are applying for the internship from overseas, employers do not have
the opportunity to conduct a face-to-face interview with you prior to your
arrival (although we do encourage phone interviews). Therefore they may be
hesitant to commit to an exact job description until you have begun working and
they have a chance to get to know you and your capabilities better.
Many leading companies and organizations are only willing to take interns with
a high level of Hebrew and therefore it is not always possible to accommodate
requests for placements in specific companies.
Please consider that internships with smaller organizations are usually more successful, as they provide interns with more responsibility/challenging tasks than larger companies are able to do.
Keep in mind: In most cases, your internship is what you make out of it.
If you are serious, committed, and show initiative, your employer is likely to
expand your responsibilities.
If you are passive and wait for assignments, you may not be challenged.
