Who is the program for?
Career Israel is an excellent option for Jewish college seniors or recent college graduates looking for practical experience in their field that will help them secure a job and/or get into the graduate school of their choice. The program is also a great way for alumni of Birthright or other Israel programs to come back and have a more independent and in-depth Israel experience by having an internship in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem.
***The 3 month summer track is designed for both university students and graduates
Career Israel is a good fit for you if you:
1) Do not feel ready to start "real life" but still want to use your time in a constructive way by building your resume.
2) Are planning on starting grad school in the fall and looking for something constructive to do in the interim.
3) Are debating about their future career direction, and would like to "try out" your profession before commiting to grad school.
4) Would like to get accepted to grad school or get a job in a very competitive field, and having practical experience in that field would give you an edge.
5) Have been to Israel in the past (including children of Israelis), and would like to have a more authentic and independent experience in Israel.
6) Are in university and looking for a meaningful summer opportunity
7) Are looking for a work holiday, and looking for a meaningful vacation- or an internship in Israel
The 5 month Career Israel (internship in Israel) program is divided into two segments: Orientation & Ulpan, and the Internship component.
The educational programming in the Orientation and Ulpan segment of the program is designed to acquaint you with Israeli society and to prepare you for a successful internship experience in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem.
The program begins with a five-day orientation in Jerusalem that both gives you the opportunity to get to know the other members of the group as well as to tour Israel's capital.
After the orientation, the group transfers to Tel Aviv for the Ulpan (Hebrew language study) segment of the program. If you will be in Tel Aviv for your internship, then you will move into your permanent housing at this time. If you will be interning in Jerusalem, you will be living in temporary housing for the duration of the Ulpan. In addition to the Ulpan classes, there will be afternoon programming including:
