“The ROI team is comprised of people who are hard-working and enthusiastic about what they do, which is to invest in young Jews who they identify as the future leaders and curators of Jewish life. My experience working with ROI provided me with the opportunity to learn new skills and try things outside of my background, which is in music. Most of my tasks were related to the administrative side of preparing for a five-day conference, known as the ROI Summit, in which 120 young Jews are invited into the ROI Community.
My work entailed using a variety of programs including a customer management service called SalesForce, Dropbox, Google Documents, Excel, Wufoo, which is a registration form builder, and a closed-system social networking platform called Pathable. These programs were all used in order to manage personal information related to the Summit participants. I also created profiles for most of the participants on the ROI website, co-edited the Summit profile booklet, helped with certain PR efforts, and wrote blogs for the ROI website during the Summit.
The ROI team’s dedication to bringing people together really shows in the high production level of the Summit. Many participants agree that this is the best conference that they have ever attended and are tremendously enriched by the networking opportunities and professional development skills they acquire. The services ROI offers to their members, such as grants, make opportunities possible that they would otherwise not have. Working for ROI gave me the well-rounded experience I was looking for in an internship.”
