Our Career Israel participant, Julia Friedman, interns with WIZO (Women’s International Zionist Organization). Here is a little bit about her experience as an intern with this amazing organization:
“I have the privilege to work as a fundraising intern for World WIZO (Women’s International Zionist Organization). Every day I am surrounded by passionate women who dedicate their lives to nonprofit work and helping those in need. I feel as though I am contributing to the improvement of the lives of women and children throughout Israel by working with this organization. WIZO collects donations from around the world to support the women and children in need in Israel. I have only been with this company for a little over a month, and I have been able to see how the work that many do at this organization benefits so many.
Last week I attended an event called Otzma Tzeira, a program that WIZO does for girls at risk. Teenage girls from around the country came together and performed all different forms of art that they’ve been practicing for months. There were paintings and photographs on display that they had done, and the then girls performed things like spoken word poetry, plays that they had written and sang empowering songs together. Many of the girls expressed after their performances how much this program has helped them gain confidence, and empowered them as Israeli women. This is just one example of the amazing things WIZO does for girls and women and how much of an impact this organization has around the country. I am grateful that I can contribute to this strong women-led organization.”
