Muchas Gracias!”

“Everything started with a dream. A dream about coming for the first time and by my own means to the country and nation I have been questioning and studying my whole life. I wanted a ‘javaia  israelit, una experiencia en Israel’…for those who didn’t get it, an Israel experience. It was not going to be behind a camera or living on a tour bus, not a ‘chik chak’ journey. As I saw it in my dream, it would be living–FULLY  LIVING– in Israel.

So 2 years ago, I was studying architecture while working in an architecture firm. I started researching how to make my dream a reality. To finally come to Israel for the first time. This is where I found Career Israel.

I must say I was scared at first. It was not my country, not my language, not even a program for Spanish speakers. But, I really wanted to get to know myself better, to see things in a different way, to meet people from different backgrounds and deeply understand Israel as a whole.

So there I was, at the airport in Buenos Aires, Argentina with all my heart, expectations and money in hand. Everything I had been dreaming of and working towards had led me to this moment.

I got on the plane, got caught in the clouds and I never came down.

I’ ve been living and making the best of this cloud. Sure, it had few cloudy days, a couple of rainy skies. Yet, most of the time  it was shinning, I was shinning. I have created my own dream, my own comfy, pure, fun cloud. I have been living–fully living–immersed in Israeli life.

I have been giving directions to new comers, knowing the streets, the shortcuts, the best restaurants for your budget.

The ‘Shuk’ is not a tourist spot for me, so move the camera out of  my way cause I’m trying to do my grocery shopping.

We will never forget that Kikar Rabin is the place where the Prime Minister of Israel was assassinated. But, to us all,  it is the place you see everyday coming back home from your internship.

I don’t know about you guys, but it takes me about 5 hours by car to go to the beach in Argentina and here it is just our backyard. You can’t beat 5 hours against 15 minutes walking. This is definitely the cloud I want to live in.

My experience at my internship couldn’t have been more perfect. I was lucky enough to be chosen by Hagai Nagar, an amazing mentor and teacher. He taught me things you learn from life, not just from a school book. He encouraged me to speak my mind, sell myself and look at both sides of the picture.

And one day, one regular day at my internship, he gave me a simple task. He said, “We need to come up with a new concept for the offices of Bezeq Ra’anana, the telephone company” . To be honest, I was intimidated by such a large project. When I showed him my sketches, I was sure they wouldn’t meet the expectations for such an experienced architect like Hagai, and not even close to what Bezeq Raa’nana wanted. I was shocked when he told he liked them better than the ideas we had been working on. So right now, Bezeq Ra’anana is tangibly being built with my concept. And I have to tell you, that is the best feeling not because it was my idea, but because my opinion was valued and despite my age, he gave me the opportunity to shine and thankfully it was not just once.

I want to share with you another story.

We were going to the Negev and the tour guide was talking about the desert being the place where our patriarchs went to look for answers, where Ben Gurion went to fulfill his dream and find himself. I had never been in a desert before, and I was amazed by the picture, the colors, the way the sun hit the ground and created new colors. It was a painting and in there I got lost, panicked. I started walking in someone’s footsteps and found myself with the history of my Jewish people in the land of our ancestors. There was my answer, I didn’t see Israel as a foreigner, I was a part of it.

We are  a part of a modern Jewish family now, you are the people that I come to everyday after work, you are my family in Israel, and as we are all not staying together, you will continue to be my family in Argentina and everywhere I go.

This is my cloud, in this warm, perfect place in Israel. I met the most amazing people, I met soul mates, people from the other hemisphere with my same values. In this cloud I worked in my field, I learned new things about myself and in this little cloud called Israel, I had the time of my life.

Leaving the cloud is not easy, and you cant quite pack it in your suitcase. I want it to be a part of my life, so I’m taking  a part of it with me.

I invite you to take a piece of your cloud, to pick whatever it is that made your experience. I invite all of you, to share your cloud and take a piece of mine too.

Thanks!”
