Hi, I am Gabriella Orenstein I am 22 years old and I am from London. I grew up going on holidays to Israel and was always super sad to be leaving after one or two weeks. After University I decided it was time for me to experience living in Israel while gaining experience before applying for my Masters.
I heard about Career Israel from a friend and instantly inquired about whether or not they had the right internship for me. I knew that living in the heart of Tel Aviv would be an amazing experience and what could be better than eating hummus, pitta and falafel every day and night for five months. The Career Israel office was very supportive and patient when helping me find the perfect internship. I was very specific as to what I wanted and we found the perfect place for me.
I volunteered at an Adult Rehabilitation Centre in North Tel Aviv. Waking up early in the morning was not a problem when you are going to be somewhere you love. The centre was an amazingly inclusive environment with an awesome and happy atmosphere. The centre aimed to improve these adults life skills by encouraging independence, promoting fine and gross motor skills and enhancing their speech development. I have decided to extend my trip here in Israel and the centre where I volunteered at are thankfully employing me. My internship was by far one of the highlights of my experience here in Israel as well as the South and North Trip.
Religion for me is a big part of my life and beliefs and therefore I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to live in this beautiful holy country that I call home.
I have made some great friends along the way and I am excited to see what the future holds for me.
